ROAMIN' IN THE GLOAMIN'

To paraphrase Harry Lauder:

I've seen lots of bonnie vistas on my travels wide.

But my path is centred now on Nova Scotia side.

Oh that Nigel, he loves it here, although he works away.

I'm walking the garden in lieu, that's all I got to say.

Roamin' in the gloamin' in the bonnie yard outside,

Roamin' in the gloamin' with two dogs by my side.

Before the sun has gone to rest,

That's the time that we love best.

Oh it's lovely roamin' in the gloamin'

This night in the gloamin, dogs were tripping side by side

Cavorting here, tumbling there, in the tall grass they hide.

They enjoyed the exercise, so did I … we were both the same

To the top of the hill we briskly walked, then sauntered comin' hame

Last nicht after strollin' we paused at half past nine.

Sittin on the big verandah, I enjoyed the view that's mine.

When the breeze came up, the flowers danced the hielan' fling

I've just been through the yard and the sunset brightly sings.

Roamin' in the gloamin' in the bonnie yard outside,

Roamin' in the gloamin' with grassy expanses wide.

Before the sun has gone to rest,

That's the time that we love best.

Restin' after roamin' in the gloamin'
